Lewiston-Auburn, a twin city, river community in the heart of Maine, is home to 60,000 people.
Located within a 30 mile radius of 50% of Maines population, Lewiston-Auburn hosts a variety of festivals, art, theatre and
entertainment activities. Thousands of spectators join us in June, July and August for city festivals, including: the Great
Falls Balloon Fest, the largest event of its kind in New England. Seven colleges, the most recognized of which is Bates
College, are located in Lewiston-Auburn. The cities have two major health care centers.
Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the diversity that Androscoggin County has to offer, including: miles of hiking and cross-country
trails for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and bird watching. Lost Valley in Auburn offers one of the best ski schools in
Maine as well as night skiing, mountain biking and paint ball games. Dozens of beautiful lakes for fishing and boating are
within 15 miles of Lewiston and Auburn. Golf is available at several courses.
Also available in the area are: historical sites of the Norlands Living History Center in Livermore and the Shaker Village
in New Gloucester; shopping at LL Bean in Freeport; enjoying camping and picnics at one of the nearby state parks. The twin
cities of Lewiston and Auburn are "The Heart of Maine."
There are many different denominations and churches within the Lewiston-Auburn area. However, a large percentage of the
population remains unchurched. United Baptist Church is challenged to seek the Lord, to strategically reach hearts for
Christ in the heart of this city.
